Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy

Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is a Member of Parliament representing the Kadapa constituency in Andhra Pradesh. He is the son of former Chief Minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. Jagan Mohan Reddy is the founder of the YSR Congress Party and is also a businessman.

Personal Biography

Jagan Mohan Reddy was born on December 21, 1972 at Pulivendula village in Kadapa district. He is the son of former Chief Minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy and former Pulivendula MLA Y S Vijayamma.

Jagan Mohan Reddy is also the nephew of Congress leader and Agriculture Minister YS Vivekananda Reddy. He is also related to Health minister D L Ravindranath Reddy.

Jagan did his schooling in Pulivendula. He received a Masters in Business Administration in Hyderabad.

Professional Biography

Jagan Mohan Reddy started his political career in 2004. He campaigned for the Congress party in the 2004 Assembly elections. He later became a Member of Parliament representing the Kadapa district in 2009. His relations with the Congress party deteriorated after the demise of his father Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter accident.

Odarpu Yatra

Jagan took up 'Odarpu Yatra' to console the families of people who died after hearing the shocking news of YSR's death. This did not go well with the Congress party high command and he was repeatedly asked to avoid it.

Resignation from Congress

He resigned to the Congress party membership and as a MP on November 29, 2010. With speculations that he will float a party of his own, Jagan officially announced on December 7, 2010 that his new party will be formed and will contest in the by-elections of Pulivendula and the Kadapa MP seat.

Jagan served as the Director and Chairman of Jagati publications private limited from June 21, 2007 till February 1, 2011.
