Jagan's deeksha begins amid minor incidents

January 10, 2012
Nizamabad

YSR Congress Party chief Jagan Mohan Reddy made good progress in reaching to the people in Telangana as he reached Armoor without any major trouble to begin his two-day hunger strike. The threat to obstruct the tour by Telangana activists and the TJAC proved to a failure as Jagan's convoy stopped at several locations to interact with the party workers and locals. His entry to Nizamabad was at such an ease that he deviated from his original schedule and the highway route to visit the historic CSI Church in Medak. Some Congress workers even joined the YSR Congress Party in the presence of Jagan. Former MP Gaddam Ganga Reddy and former Minister S Santosh Reddy were among those who joined YSRCP.

Minor incidents

In contrast to the recent trip by TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu, Jagan's tour today didn't face much trouble. This was largely helped by the preventive arrests of TRS leaders including Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao. Stone pelting, hurling of eggs, tomatoes and footwear were seen in some places. Even in Baswapur and Dharmaram B, the native villages of TRS leader Gampa Goverdhan and TDP legislator Mandava Venkateswara Rao respectively, Jagan's convoy faced no trouble.

Addressing a large gathering on the first day of his two day hunger strike, Jagan Mohan Reddy flayed the Congress government for ignoring the farmers problems. He said that the Congress government failed completely in issues like providing financial support to the farmers or providing a decent MSP for their production.
